Political Infatuation - One

It is a noble desire that many have to serve people by working at the national, state, or local level of government. And it is frequently through some form of political process that often includes public elections by which individuals are selected to serve in the government.

What I would like to point out is the problem where so many are looking to political parties, or even specific politicians, as entities worthy of almost divine worship and blind allegiance.

Let me say that it is good to have all you moral upstanding persons involved in the political process, supporting qualified political candidates through giving of your time and money. But, let me also caution that your primary allegiance should never be to political parties, or specific campaigns. As Christians, we may prefer the platform of certain political parties or politicians, over the platform of other parties. However, we cannot hold to blind trust of these political parties, and politicians, and must not support their actions that go contrary to biblical values.

Further, we have an obligation to oppose the ungodly actions of political parties and politicians through whatever means God allows, regardless of any political affiliation we have. And, oppose we must, despite any campaign promises made by the politicians, especially when we see the politician acting to the contrary of promises made to uphold moral principles.

As an example, I want to direct your attention to an internationally known figure in California politics who belongs to a political party that is thought to traditionally support “family values.” This particular politician in question, prior to being elected, made direct statements in public that led many to believe he would not support homosexual marriage. However, many thousands of Californians are fighting against a diabolical state bill signed into law by this politician. See the first failed attempt below to undo the ungodly deed done by this politician:

Subject: California Law mandating Homosexual, Bisexual, and Transsexual
education

This affects our children in the public school system; please read on.

There are a number of reports on the Internet that Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger has signed a bill into law that is possibly the greatest
blatant attack against families by the Homosexual, Bisexual, and
Transsexual agenda.

Senate Bill No. 777 (SB 777)
This bill was recently signed into law by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Pro-family supporters predict SB 777 will have many devastating
consequences, including:

- Mandate school children be taught Homosexual, Bisexual, and
Transsexual behavior as equally valid alternatives to the normal
heterosexual lifestyle (i.e. one man marrying one woman).
- A Transsexual is someone who identifies with the gender different
than the sex that person was born with. So, for example, there
might be punishment of teachers who dare express any disapproval
of transsexual boys and young men who come to school dressed as
females.
- Even references to “mom and dad” in a textbook could be viewed
as discrimination as these are not inclusive of all sexual
“orientations” covered by state law (SB 777).
- If a male perceives himself as a female, he must be granted
access to female locker rooms and restrooms. He must be allowed
to participate in female sports activities.
- WorldNetDaily, quoted the Capitol Resource’s conclusion regarding
the bill and what it means as regards schools hiding a child’s
transsexual activity from parents: "If the student wishes to
keep his sexual status from his parents, the teachers and
administration must refer to the masculine pronoun (him/he)
when talking to his parents and use the feminine pronoun (she/her)
at school,"

I must confess that when my wife alerted me to this bill, I thought
that maybe there was some misunderstanding somewhere; or, maybe it was
a hoax, or urban legend being passed along on the Internet. Unfortunately,
I have personally visited the California State Legislature website
(http://www.legislature.ca.gov/port-bilinfo.html) and found the bill to
be real. Folks this is a dangerous bill. It is truly praying time. I am
also aware of a petition to reverse this horrible bill; the petition is
being organized through the website (www.SaveOurKids.net); the website
has more information about how to receive free petitions and deadlines
for signing the petitions and getting them turned in.
